Our strategic partnerships

Our Strategic Partnerships are a longer-term commitment to a number of combined authorities and city regions to help them unlock the investment they need to achieve their local economic growth and clean energy goals. 

In October 2025 we announced four Strategic Partnerships, with Glasgow City Region, West Yorkshire Combined Authority, West Midlands Combined Authority and Greater Manchester Combined Authority.

In September 2026 we announced a further four - with South Yorkshire Mayoral Combined Authority, Liverpool City Region Combined Authority, North East Mayoral Strategic Authority and Cardiff Capital Region.

Our ambition is to expand these to other MSAs and City Regions in the future. 

Our support includes:  

• Commercial expertise to develop project pipelines that deliver on local objectives. 
• Dedicated investment experts from the National Wealth Fund embedded with partner teams to provide project development and commercial and financial advisory expertise. 
• Senior strategic banking advisors to support the identification and structuring of financing solutions for projects, to help crowd in private investment.
