Where did you work previously?
My career spans both financial services and the energy sector, including mergers, start ups and a Government Arm’s Length Body, namely, UK Asset Resolution.
Tell us what attracted you to join the NWF?
NWF’s unique objectives, particularly the ability to help support investment in the UK infrastructure to drive growth and tackle climate change transition and the opportunity to join a new business based in Leeds.
What does your role involve?
I am responsible for leading the development and integration of the Risk Management Framework (RMF) across the business, including risk governance, risk culture, appetite, policies and transparent risk monitoring and reporting. The RMF is a key foundation of any business and having an effective and proportionate RMF helps protect value in the day-to-day operations and enhances value in supporting the delivery of the strategic objectives.
What is the NWF like to work for?
I thrive in a fast-paced, energised learning organisation and NWF provides this environment. As a growing business it is an exciting time to join NWF and it is important for us all to remain agile, flexible, and creative.
What are your highlights/proudest achievements since joining the NWF?
Lots of highlights. The opportunity to develop an RMF at the build stage of a business is unusual and I am proud of how this has matured over the last two years, including shaping, and creating lots of key RMF deliverables for the first time. I am particularly proud of how the Risk reporting and governance has evolved, through strong engagement across the first line of defence to ensure we have a transparent, timely and holistic view of the most significant risk to the business.
What are you looking forward to next at the NWF?
Continuing to work with my colleagues across the business as we integrate the wider mandate and seeing the investments we are involved in make a real difference across the UK. In addition, refining the RMF to ensure it continues to support management in identifying and managing risk as we grow and scale up the business is a key priority.
What would you say to anyone thinking of applying for a role here?
I would recommend NWF as a great place to work – bringing together the best of the private and public sector as a learning and innovative organisation providing ongoing opportunities to develop from the extensive talent we have across the business.
